This Privacy Policy explains what information ContactedIn collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We designed ContactedIn around data minimization, user control, and transparency.
1. Information we collect
Account information you provide (name, email, role, company, city, country).
Profile information you choose to publish (headline, bio, skills, services offered, looking for, availability, preferred contact type).
Usage signals necessary to operate the service (contact requests you send and receive, saved profiles, search queries in aggregate).
Technical information (IP address, device type, browser) for security, analytics, and abuse prevention.
2. How we use information
To operate and improve ContactedIn: authentication, directory, search, contact requests, AI matching.
To protect members through Trust & Safety signals, rate limiting, and abuse detection.
To send transactional notifications about your account, contact requests, and security events.
To measure platform health in aggregate. We do not sell your personal information.
3. How NI-AI uses your data
NI-AI (our Network-Intelligence AI layer) processes your profile and opportunity signals to suggest matches, improve outreach quality, and protect the platform from spam and abuse.
AI outputs are logged for auditability. You can request an export or deletion of your data at any time.
4. Your controls
Visibility: choose Public, Members-only, or Private.
Contact preferences: choose how accepted contacts reach you.
Data export and deletion available on request.
5. Data sharing
We share information with service providers (cloud hosting, email delivery, bot protection) strictly as required to operate the service.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of members and the public.
6. Data retention
See our Data Retention Policy for detailed retention periods. In short, account data is retained while your account is active and deleted or anonymized after account closure, except where required by law.
7. International users
ContactedIn is operated from Canada. By using the service, you consent to the transfer and processing of your information in Canada and other jurisdictions where our service providers operate.
8. Changes to this policy
We will notify users of material changes. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
